The New Years Eve Outbreak of 2017 was a Rather significant end-of-the-year weather event that happened as 2017 was drawing to a close.

A Frontal Boundary moving across the Midwest raised Severe Weather Chances.

Whilst a Winter Storm was tracking across the Northern United States during the last week of 2017, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) took note of a Frontal Boundary dragging along the south side of the Winter Storm.

Thus, the SPC stated that there was a possibility (as much as 30%) for increased instability and shear in the southern US States, where the temperatures were warmer, especially when a Tropical Energy Feed coming in from the Gulf of Mexico.
