Meteorological synopsis[]

During the early hours of 6/8/18, a very classical supercell cluster formed in northern North Carolina, the storm prediction center immediately was notified and they updated the area to a HIGH RISK. With a stable MUCAPE of 7512 and a wind shear of 12 m/s. Skew-t's showed very unstable atmospheric conditions capable of producing long track violent tornadoes. PDS Tornado watch #225 was issued for NC, VA, and WV until 6:50 AM EST

North Carolina[]

As the supercell formed in North Carolina, it started to march north, its first 50 minutes it dropped 9 EF0s and 3 EF1s. Doing very minor damage.

Virginia[]

This was the main state, this storm was very angry, it dropped 5 EF2s, 1 EF4, and 1 EF5. It also had 3 inch hail and 100 mph wind gusts.

West Virginia[]

This storm dissipated after dropping 3 landspouts that were very large. It went out with dropping a beautiful wedge landspout that did ground scouring.

Notable Tornadoes[]

Wytheville tornado[]

The Wytheville tornado was an EF4 that went through central Wytheville, it leveled houses but did not have the threshold of EF5 damage, a rainwrapped Convex segmented multiple vortex EF5 was trailing behind it going through the northeast part of the city. It completely leveled houses, it killed 16 people and injured 27 people, 8 of those deaths were storm chasers trying to outrun the EF5. The other 8 were from people who didnt have enough time to escape the tornadoes wrath of complete destruction. It also crossed interstate 81 where it injured 27 people because of their cars being thrown considerable distances.

Independence EF2[]

The Independence EF2 was a bowl shaped tornado that cut through the northwest part of Independence. It lifted roofs of of their walls doing very serious damage. It was multiple vortex and was 1.5 miles wide. This was one of the deadliest of the outbreak
